Sheep transhumance between Rocamadour and Luzech

Every year during Spring vacation, the association “Transhumance in Quercy” organizes sheep transhumance between Rocamadour and Luzech. It is the opportunity for a lot of hikers to join the outing which includes 6 halting places.

At lunchtime the sheep-rearers give the participants their products to be tasted (grilled lamb brochettes, cheese, local aperitives etc...) .

There are demonsrations of flock herding by dogs and shepherds along the trail.

Every halting place organizes festivities for the evening.

In 2015 the transhumance started on April 14th and lasted until April 18h.

Here are a few snapshots from a preceeding transhumance trail.
